Life Lessons.

Good Morning Journey Mates,

I have survived my birthday weekend! HALLELUJAH!

That statement is so true, I really survived. This has been the wildest birthday weekend ever, and not wild as in party, party, party... I have been tried and tested in every possible area, but I am still standing!!! I am the VICTOR!

God has taught me so much during these past few days. I can honestly say that I am a wiser, stronger woman. Although I faced many trials, I continually sought the Lord for direction. I'm not saying that I didn't make any bad decisions, because I did. However, once I realized that I made those decisions I allowed God to help me rectify them.

Besides all of the drama that went on, the continually outpouring of love from my family and friends helped me through, and for that I am ever so grateful.

Over the weekend, a dear friend gave me a large glass candle holder and it had an inscription on it. It's a phrase that is so familiar, but when she gave it to me as a gift in the midst of all that was going on it, it ministered life to me!

Remember in the midst of all things peace and blessings manifest with EVERY lesson learned... E.Badu

Happy Veteran's Day

Who do you love today?

Hmmm... I choose to love me!

It's important to ask yourself this question daily. Healthy self love produces many positive outcomes in our lives. When we choose to love ourselves, we eat healthier, exercise more, dress appropriately, our speech changes, we began to combat negative thoughts with postive ones, and we do not tolerate people taking advantage of us in any way shape or form, because we know what our worth. In essence our whole life changes for the better.

Today I admonish you to really ponder this question and choose to love yourself the way God loves you. If you've been stuck in a rut in may not be easy, but it's possible. You are beautiful, smart, financially sound, you make good decisions, you think clearly and logically, you are not lead by your emotions and you are an amazing woman! Sometimes you have to encourage yourself!

Don't allow society or people to make you feel like you're not enough, because you're more than enough! Choose to love yourself more!!

Living, loving, laughing and smiling,

Believe you can and do it!

A "go getHER" is a woman that is focused on achieving success (as SHE defines it) spiritually, physically, emotionally AND financially with a commitment to grow, learn and DO what it takes to go get it!

The above term "go getHER" is coined by a dear internet sister-friend of mine, Montina, founder of Organic Life Products Inc. Organic Life Products provide natural, affordable organic products and services that enhance beauty. Check them out! Organic Life Products Inc.

Today I want to introduce you to a "go getHER", her name is Ryan and her story is below. I pray that you are encouraged and strengthened to never give up, to reach for your dreams and to believe in yourself.

During a routine visit to the doctor in 2009, my doctor asked “Ryan, what was your pre- pregnancy weight?” Sadly, I couldn’t remember, and with my eldest child being 10 at the time I hadn’t really thought about it. Most of my life I was considered big or plus size, and for some odd reason after my doctor asked that question, considering my age, and the current weight I was (299lbs) I realized that the road I was heading down was deadly, and I was heading there FAST per my doctor!

After much thought, I realized that have I never taken time to take care of me… Being a busy working mom of two, there has ALWAYS been something that came before me! Then it hit me, at that very moment I KNEW things had to change!

So I decided to do a rundown of my eating habits for a day, and when I looked at the results I was FLOORED!!! My calorie intake for just one day was close to 3200 calories! No wonder I was a pound away from 300lbs at the age of 31! For years I had fooled myself into thinking that my height would kind of "take away" or "balance out" my weight... After coming up with EVERY excuse that I could think of as to why at the tender age of 31 I was 300lbs, and hadn’t done anything about yet, not one was valid! I realized for every one of my excuses God hit me with a “Why not?” or a “What's stopping you?”...

That was it; I couldn’t deny myself anymore from FINALLY taking care of ME! After a COMPLETE redo of my daily calorie intake by my doctor and the addition of some form of exercise, which I had never done in my LIFE (LOL) my journey began, physically and mentally!

I started off walking, which as I think back, was so difficult for me; it was hard for me to complete a lap around the track! (LOL) To know now that I am able to run a few miles is mind blowing… Wow talk about coming along way!

All in all the thoughts that stuck with me and still remain with me until this day are “you have to start somewhere” and “ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSES!” Proper thinking along with much support from family and friends have helped me through this journey. For those days when I didn't want to work out or I wanted to give up I would look at old pictures of myself, I didn’t want to be “her” any longer. I couldn't even remember that person I used to be, it was like I didn't even know that person anymore! My commitment to lose weight and live a healthier life was not easy, but I stuck with it! I began posting things like “time to work out”, “cardio" and calorie count facts stats daily on Facebook ( I wanted accountability), and the amount of encouragement and support from my Facebook family and friends was OVERWHELMING, especially on the days I didn't quite feel like working out. They all motivated me, and little do they know that they play in big role in pushing me to keep going!

The results of my weight loss are great (not to mention the new wardrobe!); my Facebook post were motivating others to start working out and eating right, and the way I felt INSIDE was priceless, and today I wouldn't dare trade that feeling for the world!

YAY!

Good Morning Journey Mates,

This Friday brings a special treat for me, I'm having dinner with a friend who is in town from Germany this evening! I haven't seen her for about 2 years, I'm super duper excited!

I am also choosing to finish this week strong! I've had a few setbacks, but I choose to control what I can, and trust God about all the rest! Optimism at it's finest! (Can you tell that I absolutely love "!" ? I pray that you choose to do the same. Do not allow things or (people's behaviors), outside of your control to stress you out or pull you out of character. We can't control circumstances or people.

Life is all about choices, choose to rejoice! Choose to take control of "your" thoughts and behaviors. We will always have a choice to be angry, sad, bitter, aggravated or even violent. But we control that decision. Today, let's evaluate or attitudes, pray for the Lord to help us, and choose to optimistic and finish today strong! Look at the glass half way full!

Any-who, my advice today would be from the great words of President Theodore Roosevelt "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." Simply put!

Smooches XO

LOVE THAT GIVES

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
(John 3:16, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Have you ever thought about how love affects giving? I’ve heard it said that you can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving. Love prompts us to give of ourselves, our time, abilities and resources. The Bible tells us that God is love, and the world will know that we are His followers by the love we show — and giving is what shows our love!

We are entering into a time in the year that the world knows as the season of giving, but let’s remember to take time to focus on the greatest gift of all, the gift of eternal, abundant life through Jesus. If you’ve never received this gift, I invite you to open your heart and pray this simple prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today, giving You all that I am. I repent of my sins and confess that I need You. I believe You died and rose for me. Be my Lord and Savior and make me new today. I receive Your love and Your gift of eternal life.” Then, go out and share the gift of love with someone else because it’s the only gift that will last in eternity!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, thank You for loving me and setting me free. I choose to serve You with my whole heart all the days of my life. Help me to love others the way You love me. Give me opportunities to be a blessing everywhere I go in Jesus’ name. Amen.

— Joel & Victoria Osteen
